Professional Standards

AUZ Taxation participates in a professional standards scheme approved under Australian professional standards legislation. Here is what that means for you.

Prescribed disclosure statement

Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation.

This statement is required by the Professional Standards Act 2003 (Vic). It appears on this website, on client correspondence and on other documents that promote our services.

What limited liability means

If a client makes a civil claim against us for damages arising from our professional services, the amount that can be awarded may be capped under the scheme. The cap is set by the scheme, not by AUZ Taxation.

What it does not change

The scheme does not reduce our professional or ethical obligations, does not affect your right to make a complaint, and does not exclude rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded by agreement.

Why we display this statement

Professional standards legislation requires participating members to give clients and prospective clients a prescribed disclosure statement on documents that promote or advertise their services — including websites, letters, emails and invoices.

Which legislation applies

Professional standards schemes are approved under state and territory legislation. Our scheme is approved under the Professional Standards Act 2003 (Vic) and is recognised in other Australian states and territories through the mutual recognition provisions of their respective professional standards legislation.

The scheme is monitored by the Professional Standards Councils (PSC). You can read more about how schemes protect consumers on the PSC website.

Request a copy of the scheme

Clients and prospective clients can ask us for a copy of the scheme. Contact us and we will provide it.
